You can feel the excitement in our community with the start of the summer holidays only a couple of days away. Here at Giggles, children enjoy the relaxing outside environment, playing at their own pace.

Over the weekend the lawns were mown, and the outside equipment moved around. Tamariki decided that they wanted the large buoy inside the tyre centres, and with muscle power, might and team commitment, they succeeded.

As the rain poured, tamariki painted. This time they chose cottonballs as their painting tool, to dip and paint with.
Read MoreBlowing bubbles is something from our own childhood, and children of all ages love watching the science behind creating bubbles. In the past we’ve created huge bubbles down on our ‘green’ play area. But today, tamariki are creating small bubbles, lots of small bubbles.
Blowing down a straw into a mixture of detergent and glycerin (glycerol) creates bubbles which stick together and last longer.

Read MoreWe are so excited to be celebrating Diwali this week. At the start of this week we were visited by Fairhaven School’s Indian Dance Group, who showed us a couple of their dances. Throughout the rest of the week, we will be preparing for Thursday, where we are hosting Giggles Diwali Celebration Day.

Read MoreCooking lunch is a great learning experience. From boiling the eggs, to waiting until they are cooled to tapping them open and cracking off the egg shells. To picking the herbs, cooking the ingredients, rolling out the roti for cooking. So much love from tamariki and kaiako goes into cooking our lunches. It’s truly a team effort!
